5 Home Cleaning Tricks

For many people, cleaning the house has got to be one of the most disliked chores alongside taking out the garbage and having a tooth pulled. The problem with cleaning your house is that there are so many different aspects to it that we often become overwhelmed. Jammy Shop is here to help. Besides offering some of the industry’s finest and most effective cleaning products, we are also going to share with you some of our favourite tricks and tips that we use to make cleaning your house easier and much less time consuming. Here are our 5 home cleaning tricks that anyone can use for a cleaner, healthier home.

Use Ice Cubes to Deodorise a Garbage Disposal

If your garbage disposal is beginning to smell, grab some ice cubes and drop them down the disposal and turn it on. Now these aren’t your ordinary ice cubes, they are ice cubes made of vinegar. The vinegar will neutralise any odours leaving your disposal smelling clean and fresh.

Use Aluminium Foil to Scrub Off Baked-On Food

A good idea before putting any food into a baking dish is to use pan spray or oil on the dish to make cleanup easier. If you forgot to spray your baking dish, you can use a piece of aluminium foil, crumpled into a ball, to scrub the leftover stuck on food making the dish clean and shiny. Add a few drops of dish soap to the dish before scrubbing.

Use Baking Soda to Clean Silver

If your silver is looking lacklustre and tarnished, rather than reaching for an expensive bottle of silver cleaner, grab the baking soda instead. After washing your silver items in hot, soapy water, make a solution of 1 quart boiling water and ¼ cup baking soda. Pour this mixture over your silver and let it sit in a foil lined pot for 5 minutes. Then remove the silver from pot, rinse it with clean water and dry it with a clean, soft cloth.

Use a Pillowcase for Dust-Free Ceiling Fan Cleaning

Cleaning the blades of your ceiling fan can be tedious and messy. The dust you are cleaning off can get everywhere making even more of a mess to clean up. Next time, use a pillow case slipped over the ceiling fan blade. Simply draw the fabric across the blade towards the end and all of the dust and dirt will collect in the pillowcase and not on your floor.

Use a Dryer Sheet to Get Rid of Soap Residue

Soap residue can make a modern glass shower enclosure look dirty and worn. To clean it quickly and easily, use a dryer sheet with a few drops of water. The soap residue will wipe away leaving a sparkling clean shower door.
